Job Description
Description
Cyrus Recruitment Ltd is a Leeds-based recruitment agency on a significant growth trajectory, expanding our logistics workforce across the North of England. We are looking for a driven and people-focused Warehouse Supervisor to lead operational teams on behalf of our key clients.
This is a first-line management role that bridges the gap between the warehouse floor and senior leadership. You will be responsible for shift productivity, staff welfare, safety compliance, and driving KPIs. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who can motivate teams, solve problems on the fly, and maintain a positive culture even during peak pressure. We are not just filling a role – we are building future Operations Managers.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 10–25 warehouse operatives (pickers, packers, loaders, and drivers’ assistants).
- Plan daily shift rotas, allocate tasks based on workload, and cover absences effectively.
- Monitor individual and team performance against productivity and accuracy targets.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and manual handling refreshers.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues such as system errors, missing stock, or delivery delays.
- Ensure strict adherence to health & safety protocols (PPE, racking safety, fire exits, spill management).
- Act as the first point of contact for disciplinary or grievance matters, escalating to the Warehouse Manager when required.
- Complete shift reports, handovers, and performance data submissions for client reporting.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ supervisory or team-leading experience in a warehouse, distribution centre, or logistics environment.
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse processes (picking methods, packing standards, dispatch flows).
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills – able to manage diverse teams.
- Numerate and IT-literate – comfortable with Excel, email, and WMS reporting functions.
- Flexible to work early, late, and occasional weekend shifts as operations require.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
- FLT Instructor or Trainer certification.
- Experience in a 3PL or retail distribution environment.
- Knowledge of Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
