Job Description

Cyrus Recruitment Ltd is a thriving Leeds-based recruitment agency, growing alongside the booming logistics industry across the North of England. We are seeking physically robust and hard-working Loaders / Unloaders to support our distribution centre clients with high-volume freight handling.

This is a fast-paced, physically demanding role that requires stamina and teamwork. You will be the first and last pair of hands to touch a shipment, ensuring goods are safely moved between dock and vehicle. No two days are the same, and you will play a vital role in keeping the supply chain moving. We offer immediate starts, flexible hours, and opportunities to gain forklift certification through our training partners.

Responsibilities

• Manually unload incoming freight from containers, trailers, and vans using appropriate lifting techniques.
• Sort and segregate inbound goods by destination, product type, or client upon arrival.
• Safely load outbound vehicles in correct sequence, maximising space while ensuring load stability.
• Use manual handling aids (sack trucks, pallet jacks, roller beds) to move heavy or awkward items.
• Shrink-wrap, band, and secure pallets to prevent shifting during transit.
• Check loads against shipping manifests to confirm item counts and prevent mix-ups.
• Keep the loading bay area clear of debris, spillages, and packaging waste at all times.
• Report any damaged goods, vehicle defects, or safety hazards to the shift lead immediately.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Exceptional physical strength and endurance – able to lift, push, and pull loads up to 25kg repeatedly.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment (e.g., turnaround deadlines for trailers).
• Team player attitude – able to coordinate effectively with drivers, forklift operators, and supervisors.
• Punctual and flexible – must be able to start early (as early as 04:00) and finish late when needed.
• Good spoken English for basic safety communication.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

• Previous loading/unloading experience in a warehouse, port, or postal depot.
• Valid Forklift or Powered Pallet Truck licence.
• Manual Handling or COSHH certification.
