Job Description

Description

Cyrus Recruitment Ltd is a fast-growing recruitment agency based in Leeds, dedicated to connecting top warehouse talent with leading employers across the North of England. We are currently looking for a meticulous and organised Goods In / Goods Out Operative to manage the critical “gateway” functions of our clients’ warehouses.

This dual-role position requires someone who can seamlessly switch between receiving inbound deliveries and preparing outbound shipments. You will be the custodian of stock accuracy at the point of entry and exit, making you an essential link in the supply chain. If you enjoy variety, problem-solving, and working with digital systems, this role offers excellent long-term prospects.

Responsibilities

Goods In (Receiving):

  • Unload inbound vehicles and check delivered quantities against purchase orders or delivery notes.
  • Inspect all incoming goods for damage, defects, or short-shipments and log discrepancies for claims.
  • Allocate storage locations using the WMS and physically put away stock into racking or bulk areas.
  • Label received items with internal barcodes and update inventory records in real time.

Goods Out (Dispatch):

  • Stage completed customer orders in the dispatch marshalling area according to delivery routes.
  • Perform final quality checks on outgoing goods to ensure they match packing slips.
  • Generate shipping documentation (waybills, customs paperwork) and affix correct carrier labels.
  • Coordinate with loading teams to ensure vehicles are loaded in the correct order for multi-drop routes.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of all inbound and outbound movements.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a warehouse receiving or dispatch role (minimum 6 months).
  • Familiarity with basic warehouse paperwork (delivery notes, packing slips, bills of lading).
  • Good IT skills – comfortable using a computer or handheld terminal for data entry.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Physically fit for lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Experience using a recognised WMS (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or ProWMS).
  • Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Licence.
  • Experience dealing with courier booking portals (e.g., DHL, FedEx, DPD).
