This is the backbone role of the supply chain. You will be working within busy distribution centres, fulfilment hubs, and manufacturing sites, handling everything from inbound receiving to outbound dispatch. Responsibilities

• Receive inbound shipments, verifying quantities and condition against delivery notes or purchase orders.
• Accurately pick customer orders from racking, shelving, or floor locations using handheld scanners or voice-picking systems.
• Pack goods securely into boxes, crates, or pallets, ensuring they are labelled correctly for dispatch.
• Wrap and secure pallets using stretch wrap and banding equipment to prevent damage in transit.
• Sort, segregate, and store incoming stock in designated warehouse zones following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) principles.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work area in compliance with health and safety policies.
• Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with stock reconciliation when discrepancies are identified.
• Collaborate with team leaders and other operatives to meet daily productivity KPIs and dispatch deadlines.
• Report any equipment faults, damaged goods, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Proven experience working in a warehouse, distribution, or production environment (minimum 6 months).
• Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy items (up to 25kg) for the duration of the shift.
• Basic numeracy and literacy – able to read pick sheets, count stock, and complete paperwork accurately.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with shift patterns (early starts, late finishes, or weekend work).
• Strong attention to detail to avoid picking and packing errors.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

• Experience using handheld RF scanners, barcode readers, or voice-picking technology.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as SAP, Manhattan, or Blue Yonder.
• Manual Handling or Health & Safety certification (e.g., IOSH).
• Own transport due to early/late shift start times (though we serve areas with good public transport links).
